The Red Hat Society began as a result of a few women deciding to greet middle age with fun and humor. It was conceived of by Mary Ellen Cooper, after she read the poem "Warning" by Jenny Joseph, which depicts an older woman in purple clothing with a red hat. To become a member, you must be a woman of 50 or over and you must attend functions in a red hat and purple outfit. In recognition of this fun loving group, I’d like to introduce Maude, a one inch scale doll in purple and red silk outfit, red silk hat and red ultrasuede purse. Dressed by Rachelle, porcelain poured and painted by Jan Smith from a Theresa Glisson mold.
